Tell us about your internship. What kind of work did you do? What did you find rewarding?

As an intern I attended congressional briefings; wrote legislative memos and pitched (them) to staff, attended weekly staff meetings, assisted in a legislative project pertaining to the certification of the 2020 election, assisted in an intellectual property projects, etc. I found every task to be rewarding as it will enhance my skill-set for my future aspirations. This experience also exposed me to professionalism within the real-world job environment by setting mandatory deadlines and standards for projects , dress codes, and communication.

Have your career or life goals changed as a result of your internship? If so, how?

This internship has not changed my career or life goals, but rather pushed me to the realization that my career goal as a lawyer is achievable. As an undergraduate, we have life goals that we want to pursue, but are often intimidated by the steps we have to take to reach those goals. The internship showed me the logistical tactics needed in the real-world work environment in a profession that I am truly passionate about. It also showed me that you can do anything if you put your mind to it.

Share an exciting memory from your internship – something unexpected, an accomplishment, someone you met.

My most memorable experience was when I was selected to join a House Democratic Caucus call with Speaker Nancy Pelosi and other top-ranked democrats. I also got the opportunity to watch the issues conference keynote from President Biden with all the House Democrats through a software which allowed me to engage with them via chat.

Share a story about something special you did in Washington – an event you attended, a place you went, an exciting talk, etc.

Listening in on Congresswoman Jackie Speier's incredible life story has motivated me to exceed expectations.
