Financial Aid

General Information

In addition to scholarships and the Subsidized Unpaid Internships Program (SUIP), students participating in the Washington Program are eligible to apply to financial aid (UC, state, and federal).  If a student already receives financial aid, the aid package will be adjusted according to the cost of living in DC.  Every quarter, the Washington Program sends a list of participants to the Financial Aid and Scholarships Office, where financial aid packages are compiled. The financial aid office adjust aid awards to meet the increased cost of the program.

Financial Aid notification occur before the start of the program. Once notified, you can view and accept your aid on the UC Davis MyAwards website. Financial aid will be disbursed by the UC Davis Student Accounting office. Make sure you talk to someone in the Financial aid office before applying to determine how your financial aid will apply!  The program also has a variety of scholarships for accepted students.  

Academic Quarter Program (Fall, Winter, Spring)

Students who qualify may continue to receive financial aid while participating in the program. 

Summer Program

While the summer program does not require students to take units, those who would like to receive financial aid must enroll in at least 6 units of coursework in order to qualify for aid. Students who need to receive units in order to receive financial aid should ensure they have explored all options available to them prior to signing the UCDC housing contract.

Students participating in the summer UCDC program and who are eligible for financial aid Students may opt to receive units during the summer through one of the following means:

  1. Internship units through the UC Davis Washington Program (6 units available)
  2. Internship units from their Major Department. Students who would like to receive 192 units through their department should reach out to their major advisor as soon as possible to discuss this possibility. 
  3. Internship Units though UCDC's agreement with UCLA that allows students to receive 192 units. Students who wish to use this method to receive units MUST inform Washington Program staff in order to ensure proper enrollment (4 or 8 units available).
  4. Non-internship units though Summer Sessions Online Courses (the most up-to-date list of online course offerings can be found on schedule builder)

Summer Financial Aid

If you qualified for financial aid during the academic year, you may qualify for financial aid during the summer. If you were at a community college, you may have more financial aid available if you take summer courses at UC Davis. To receive financial aid at UC Davis, you must have the following:

  • A FAFSA or California Dream Act application on file (include UC Davis’ federal school code ‘001313’ on the application).
  • A Summer Financial Aid application on file.

Students who qualify for financial aid must take at least 6 units during the summer. Financial aid is disbursed in the session in which you accumulate 6 units (so if you take 3 units in Session 1 and 3 units in Session 2, you will not receive aid until session 2).

Summer Billing & Disbursement

Some or all instruction for all or part of the Academic Year may be delivered remotely. Tuition and mandatory fees have been set regardless of the method of instruction and will not be refunded in the event instruction occurs remotely for any part of the Academic Year. Figures for tuition and fees represent currently approved or proposed amounts and may not be final. Actual tuition and fees are subject to change by the University of California as determined to be necessary or appropriate. Final approved tuition and fee levels may differ from the amounts presented.

Additional Helpful Information:

  • Summer students who wish to receive financial aid must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 units to be potentially eligible in accordance with financial aid rules.
  • For students who have not yet filed a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or California Dream Act Application, learn more about filing an application and be sure to include the UC Davis school code 001313.
