The Washington Program (UCDC) is available to students in ALL majors.

Congratulations on taking the first steps towards exploring this wonderful opportunity! Before you apply, we encourage you to review the eligibility requirements carefully to ensure you meet the criteria to participate.

Program Eligibility:

  • A 3.0 GPA or above is preferred, but not required.
  • Full-time, UCD AB or BA/BS-degree-seeking students
  • Sophomores, juniors, and seniors are eligible, but freshmen are not.
  • Full-time, UCD AB or BA/BS-degree-seeking transfer students with 1 completed quarter at UC Davis
  • Full-time UCD AB or BA/BS-degree-seeking DACA/AB540/Undocumented students
  • Full-time UCD AB or BA/BS-degree-seeking international students
  • Full-time exchange students with one completed quarter at UCD can only apply for the academic quarter programs (fall, winter, and spring), but they are not eligible to apply for the summer program.

Please note: Any student on an F or J international student visa will require practical training authorization from SISS, and they should discuss that with an advisor early on if they are considering participating in the Washington program.

Application Review Process

Students who apply by the application deadline will have their applications reviewed after the application deadline has passed. After determining initial program eligibility for all applicants (see above criteria), the applications will be reviewed and ranked based on the following factors: 1. Reported experience, 2. GPA, 3. Essay question responses. While we cannot offer student assistance with their application, we do recommend that students be as thorough as possible in both the experience and essay question sections to give the Program a full understanding of their qualifications. For those who would like additional help with these sections, we recommend use of campus resources available to students such as the Writing Center and the Career Center.
