I study Political Science and History and I’m also minoring in Latin American and Hemispheric Studies. This past summer I had the privilege to be part of the Summer 2018 cohort of the UC Davis Washington Program. Through the program, I had the opportunity to intern for the Washington D.C. Office of Senator Kamala D. Harris. Working for the Senator gave me a sense of direction and solidified my interests in education and immigration policy. At the office, I learned all about the legislative process and how a Senate office runs. Working on the hill gave me a deeper appreciation of what it truly means to be a public servant. The Washington D.C. Program provided me the tools necessary to succeed as an intern in the Senate and gave me opportunities to network with other like-minded interns and mentors. As a Peer Advisor, it is my job to help prospective students to succeed towards their career goals and to offer guidance based on my experiences as an intern in Washington D.C.
