“I went to DC during the spring of 2011. While there I interned for the Office of the Attorney General for D.C., in the Child Protection Section, where I received a large amount of hands-on experience while shadowing one of the assistant attorney generals. It truly was an enriching experience and one that I didn’t want to leave. To be able to aid in writing legal documents, attend court hearings, and truly make a difference in a child’s life was definitely an experience I will never forget and one that I will take with me as I continue onto law school in the fall. My internship wasn’t the only thing that made my time in D.C. memorable. I was also able to take a tour of the White House as well as the CIA Headquarters in Virginia, which were also amazing opportunities not very many people get. Overall, this experience really put things in perspective for me and made realize that law school was definitely the route for me. I wholeheartedly support this program and what it can provide for students, which is why I came back from D.C., applied, and secured one of the student advisor positions for the UC Davis Washington Program. While my time working as a student advisor has gone by way too fast, I love that I have been able to reach out to students about this wonderful program because it is definitely a life-altering experience that no one should miss out on.”
